If you are new to the island, taking your children out for Halloween for the first time, or looking for some great areas to trick-or-treat — you’re in luck! Halloween is always a fun time for keiki (children) across the island. It is that one night of the year where they can dress up as whatever or whoever they want! But, the big question is always the same — Where is the best areas to trick-or-treat?
Luckily for you, we have done the hard work for you! Here are our top picks for Halloween on Oahu:
Ala Moana — At the world’s largest open air mall, Ala Moana Shopping Center will feature a variety of stores participating in trick-or-treat from 5–7pm.
Hawaii Kai — is a residential neighborhood with many areas to check out. Parking can fill up so it’s always encouraged to stop by area. Some of the more popular areas are Koko Head Terrace (near the Hawaii Kai Library), Lalea Townhomes, The Peninsula Community, Anchorage, Mariner’s Cove, Hahaione, and Spinnaker Isle just to name a few.
Kaneohe — The most popular area would definitely be Windward Mall. The keiki can go store-to-store rather than door-to-door in a very safe and well lit environment from 5:30–7:30. But note that masks are not allowed for children 12 years old or older. Another area outside of the mall is the Ahuimanu neighborhood which is also known as “Christmas Lane” during December.
Kahala — One of the most well known neighborhoods on the island for trick-or-treaters as the residents often give full sized candy bars. Also Kahala Mall is always a popular spot.
